Data collection is not new to education, however there are many new pieces that should raise great concern to all citizens. The protection of student data is being lost to the drive to collect more and more information on each student. Although not all of the data collection systems or requirements are yet in place in Wyoming, they are in the making. Several areas of data collection raise concern, including: State Longitudinal Data Systems, P-16/P-20, FERPA laws being loosened, and the collection and/or access within the assessment system. Please see the sub-catergories under our “Data Collection and Privacy” tab to learn more.
